Out of curiosity I was trawling through Youtube last week and happened upon a Norwegian teenage tribute band called New Zeppelin. I tell you the hairs on the back of my neck stood up! They're only 13-15 years old and they can play like gods! I've heard many Zep tribute bands; some fair, some downright sad - but all lacking the passionate multi-layered music magic that is Led Zeppelin. But these guys are probably the closest to the real thing I have ever heard! I'm not a musician and have no technical ability here - but I can tell they've worked incredibly hard to copy something they clearly love - and I just love 'em for it! They put all the other tribute bands in the shade - and they're just a bunch of kids! I wouldn't dream of posting a link, but it's worth checking them out! When someone does such a brilliant job surely it's no insult to the original!
I storsalen sto gruppa New Zeppelin klar og smelte til med ein kanonkonsert. Bandet spelte seg gjennom ei imponerande rekkje Zeppelin låtar før dei enda opp med klassikaren “Stairway to Heaven”.
Man skal, eller bør være forsiktig med å utrope noen vinner på forhånd, eller gavmildt garantere noen suksess. Særlig når det ikke er målbart i tid, rom, lengde eller andre konkrete mål.
Med tanke på at disse gutta er mellom 15 og 17 år gamle, må vi bare bøye oss i støvet for det de klarer å prestere på scenen. De har surfet gjennom flere UKM mesterskap, og er i år klare for UKM landsmønstring I Trondeheim.
Mange flere band skal måle krefter lørdagskvelden. Ett til må nevnes; tenåringene i New Zeppelin: Gitarist Vegard Berge, bassist Sondre Berge, Cato Lyngholm på trommer og vokalist Magnus Larsen.
